I absolutely adore talking to Mark Duplass. He’s not only charming and funny, he’s real, and that’s a commodity that’s gold in this business. A longtime stable of independent cinema, Duplass is not just a talented filmmaker, he’s an accomplished actor in his own right. Currently, he’s having a moment on The Morning Show, where his character Chip gets a powerful monologue to close out season four. I’d previously spoken to him here for Language Lessons, as well as moderated a pair of Q&A events with him and Natalie Morales that year, so I knew going in this would be a pleasure. Today, you can experience that same thing.
Below, you can see my latest chat with Duplass. We talk about why The Morning Show was the right opportunity for him, the difference between these big projects and the little ones he made his bones on, and much more. Plus, we double back to discuss Biosphere a bit (raved about by yours truly here), since we’d been scheduled to speak right before the strike. You’ll hear him talk about how he feels like he’s winning the arrangement between Apple and himself, as well as plenty of fun little anecdotes. He’s such a great guy, I could go back and forth with him for hours. Hopefully you enjoy this half as much as I did.
Here now is my interview with The Morning Show co-star and all around indie film renaissance man Mark Duplass. Enjoy:
You can see Season Four of The Morning Show on Apple TV+ right now!
