On the most recent episode of the Awards Radar Podcast (listen here), Myles and I did a March Madness style bracket of video game movies. On the next episode, we might actually rank games based on movies, so we’re obviously in a gaming mood. As such, I’m combining the Awards Radar Community Question and Sunday Scaries into one hybrid post. Today, we’re asking you about your favorite horror video game movie adaptation. It can be a motley crew, though next year Zach Cregger‘s version of Resident Evil will almost certainly be taking the cake. Until then…
Some of the more popular options could be Five Nights at Freddy’s (even if I was not a fan), Silent Hill, or Werewolves Within (a hybrid pick, but one I’m a fan of). The Last of Us is a television show, or else it would be tops here, considering its amazingly high quality. Still, if you’re a Doom fan, for example, this is the time to speak up and say why.
Maybe you’re one of those lunatics who actually enjoys an Uwe Boll horror movie? Probably not, but hey, I’m not judging…much. Perhaps the Resident Evil franchise is more your bag? The latter is far more likely than the former, so I’m open to that pick. For me, personally, I’m waiting for Cregger’s version to hit.
Now, it’s your turn to speak up. Do you have a favorite horror film based on a video game? If so, chime in with which one. These fright flicks, coming out of horror games, are a specific breed. So, there’s a lot of personality differences that could make up for the (more than) occasional lack of quality. Regardless, we’re eager to hear from you, so don’t be shy…
