When it comes to Will Smith, there are a few difference versions of the actor. There’s the Smith pursuing box office stardom, for sure, but there’s also the Smith looking for prestige attention. That he’s been able to do both is part of why he’s, at least for a time, been seen as one of our biggest A-list stars. With his latest action flick, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, in theaters now (reviewed here), it seems like a perfect time to rank his best work.
Below, you can see where I fall on the top performances from Smith. I have a mix of action, comedy, and drama here. When it comes to action and comedy, it’s hard to beat Men in Black. For drama, however, your mileage may vary. King Richard won him an Oscar, but it’s actually Ali that I think is his best work to date. As for the rest of the list? You’re about to find out…
Here now are the ten best Will Smith performances, so far to date:
10. Focus
9. Enemy of the State
8. Hitch
7. Emancipation
6. Concussion
5. The Pursuit of Happyness
4. Independence Day
3. King Richard
2. Men in Black
1. Ali
